Ambassadors Committee

The Barry County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors are the welcome arm for the Chamber; the Ambassadors serve as highly visible good will representatives of the Chamber; greeting new members, reaching out to existing members, promoting Chamber programs and bridging the gap between the general membership and the Board of Directors.

Membership Committee

The purpose of the Barry County Chamber of Commerce Membership Committee is to grow the membership base, retain members and create value for each Chamber member by assisting Chamber staff in identifying growth opportunities.

The Membership Committee meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 12:00 noon rotating locations at Chamber member restaurants.  Please call the Chamber for current month meeting location.

Government Issues Committee

The Government Issues Committee serves as the lead advocate for business issues in Barry County; to promote pro-business activities through responsive government on the local, state and federal levels that support the overall best interests of our members; to establish programs to engage Chamber members; to focus on monitoring local and state issues affecting business and economic growth in Barry County; and to keep Chamber members informed on issues of importance.

The Government Issues Committee meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at the Hastings Public Library in the second floor community room.

2009 Government Issues Survey – A Survey of Chamber Members was recently completed and responses are currently being reviewed and prioritized for attention, action and/or referral to a related organization or committee. Click here for the survey results.

Golf Outing Committee

The 24th Annual Chamber Golf Outing was held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Hastings Country Club.  The event started with a tee off at 8:30 a.m. and was followed by lunch and an awards presentation. Over 100 golfers were in participation, representing over 23 area businesses.

The Golf Outing is the Chamber’s largest fundraiser each year, enabling us to continue to provide valuable county-wide services to our members and to the community. The golf outing serves as a great way to engage with your Chamber peers and build relationships with local business leaders.

Meeting Schedule
Committee meetings are held on a seasonal basis beginning in January. Meetings are typically held on Wednesdays at 12:00 noon in Hastings. To join the Chamber Golf Committee and to receive notices of these meetings, please e-mail lynn@mibarry.com

Human Resource Network

The Human Resource Network group was established in February 2010 to allow Chamber member organizations an opportunity for professional HR development and peer-to-peer learning. The HR Network is open to all HR Professional and Business Owners/Managers serving in a HR capacity within their organization. The format of the meetings will allow for exchange of information, sharing of best practices and learning about current topics of interest through guest speakers.

The HR Network meets at 8:00 a.m. on the 2nd Thursday of each month at MI Works office in Hastings.

Marketing and Public Relations Committee

The Marketing and Public Relations Committee is a new ad-hoc committee started in March 2010 for the primary purpose of developing a Marketing Plan for the Chamber of Commerce.  The Committee plans to meet at least monthly.  Call the Chamber if you would like to become involved with this committee.
