Travis Alden | President
A native of Southwest Michigan, Travis comes to Barry County from Manistee, MI with a diverse background in Community & Economic Development. In Manistee he served as the community’s first Executive Director of their Main Street Downtown Development Authority, fostering a number of catalytic developments to fruition. The highlight was the $2.6 Million historic rehabilitation of the Vogue Theatre, a 1938 art-deco cinema that had sat vacant and deteriorating for nearly a decade.
Travis was then tapped to help the Vogue as its Executive Manager during the startup and stabilization phase of operation, beginning with the grand opening in December 2013. Under his leadership, the Vogue welcomed over 125,000 ticketed patrons through its doors…changing the landscape of Downtown Manistee and proving that a well-run downtown cinema could in fact be successful in the community.
Prior to his time in Manistee, Travis worked as the Community Development Director in Tipton, Iowa – effectively serving as the Director of the Tipton Chamber of Commerce and Tipton Economic Development Corporation. His work in Tipton consisted of event management, industrial park development and member relations.
Travis is happy to now call Barry County home, along with his wife Sarah and daughters Natalie and Molly. He also will enthusiastically join in any game of Ultimate Frisbee that he can find.
